Introduction to Mao Yisheng Memorial Hall and Mao Yisheng Bridg

Mao Yisheng Memorial Hall and Mao Yisheng Bridge and Tunnel Science & Technology Museum are located within Mao Yisheng Park in Shiye Town, Dantu District, Zhenjiang. The park covers an area of approximately 1,200 mu, with a total construction area of 4,350 square meters, including 3,720 square meters of exhibition space (1,010 square meters dedicated to Mao Yisheng Memorial Hall and 2,710 square meters dedicated to Mao Yisheng Bridge and Tunnel Science & Technology Museum). The memorial houses over 2,000 artifacts related to Mao Yisheng, categorized into four major groups.

Mao Yisheng Memorial Hall was inaugurated in 2006 and has since been dedicated to sharing the inspiring narrative of Ma Yisheng, preserving his indomitable spirit, and promoting the culture of bridge engineering. It stands as a premier venue offering the public a high-quality, welcoming, and uplifting environment for patriotic and scientific education. This dynamic and open platform seamlessly integrates “brand building + technological innovation + talent nurturing + cultural inheritance + science popularization,” serving as an educational beacon, a model for emulation, and a guiding light inspired by Mao Yisheng’s spiritual culture. 

In recent years, Mao Yisheng Memorial Hall has been designated as a “National Highway Science Education Base”, a “Traditional Education Base of Jiusan Society”, an “Outstanding Science Education Base of Jiangsu Province”, a “Scientists’ Spirit Education Base of Jiangsu Province”, a “Patriotic Education Base of Zhenjiang”, and one of “National Top Ten Museums” of China Communications News. 

In 2023, Runyang Bridge Company and the Beijing Mao Yisheng Science & Technology Education Foundation jointly established the Mao Yisheng Memorial Hall and Mao Yisheng Bridge and Tunnel Science & Technology Museum, registered as a non-profit public institution equivalent to a state-owned museum. To respond to the CPC Central Committee’s call to “vigorously promote the spirit of scientists” and achieve “high-level self-reliance in science & technology,” inheriting and promoting Mao Yisheng’s spirit of patriotism, science, hard work and dedication, the renovation and upgrade of Mao Yisheng Memorial Hall commenced in October 2023, with the new hall officially opening in May 2024. 

The new hall features eight thematic exhibition areas: the Prelude Hall, Mao Yisheng Memorial Hall (comprising four chapters: Pursuing Education and Dreams, Serving the Country with Science & Technology, Educational Popularization, and Affection for the Motherland), Bridge and Tunnel Culture, Large-span Bridges, Long Tunnels, Bridge and Tunnel Digital Intelligence Center, Bridge and Tunnel Industry, and the Conclusion Hall. These areas integrate Mao Yisheng’s spirit with the practices of bridge and tunnel management and maintenance in Jiangsu Province, as well as the comprehensive efforts of Jiangsu Communications Holding in bridge construction, maintenance, research, and talent development, place the focus on the goals of “promoting the spirit of scientists” and “leading the nation in technological innovation,” inheriting and promoting Mao Yisheng’s spirit of “patriotism, science, hard work, and dedication.” The hall aims to spread bridge culture, promote self-reliance in science & technology, and establish a renowned domestic museum and bridge and tunnel science & technology museum that integrates patriotic education, education on the spirit of scientists, training in bridge knowledge, science popularization, and bridge technology research as a whole. It seeks to empower the construction of a strong transportation nation with technological innovation and create a new model for such efforts.
